The "African Vocals"
visiting Pfedelbach
The "African Vocals", an a cappella group from the townships of Swakopmund/Namibia, will come to Germany again this year after extremely successful tours in 2023 and 2024 and present a new repertoire that reflects the diversity of Namibian culture, music and traditions.
The group consists of 19 singers between the ages of 20 and 35, and eight members will be representing the band on their tour of Germany.
On Sunday, June 22, 2025 to 7pm The African Vocals are live in the Evangelical Church in Pfedelbach to experience. Even before from 6pm there is a Standing reception with drinks and a small snack. You can also Namibian handicrafts acquire.
For African Vocals, music is more than just art – it is hope, unity, a means of change, and it builds bridges. All members of the group come from Swakopmund's townships, where they experienced discrimination and difficult living conditions. Today, they are actively involved in the community, founded a children's choir, and support other social projects to give children hope, guidance, and a future.
African Vocals see themselves as ambassadors of their Namibian homeland, and they strive to convey a positive and hopeful image of Africa. They bring this to the stage in a dynamic and interactive way with their impressive vocals in various ethnic Namibian languages, accompanied by drums and a fitting choreography. Their songs are influenced by gospel, but also tell of love and everyday life, the beauty of nature, and life in the townships.
Let yourself be enchanted by the fascinating world of African vocals and experience an unforgettable evening full of rousing rhythms, harmonious songs and touching stories.
The Admission to the concert is free, but it will for a donation for the musicians and for the ongoing projects of the Namibia Support Association eV asked.
Visa requirement for Germans
A major issue is the introduction of a pre-applied Visa from April 1 for approximately 100 new countries. Last year, the government realized that Namibians are only allowed to enter about 30 countries without a prior visa, but require a visa for all others.
Last year, Namibia wrote to all countries and asked them to change their visa requirements. All citizens of countries that have not changed their visa requirements will now be required to apply for a Namibian visa before entering the country.
Also Germany is not an exception, but rather an inglorious example. There are many stories of how Namibians, both white and black, were humiliated and treated disrespectfully at the airport upon entering Germany, essentially as illegal refugees and "parasites." And even here in the country: What do venerable and wealthy Namibians have to present here at the embassy in Windhoek to apply for a vacation visa in Germany?
Until now, we Germans could simply enter Namibia without a visa. This will now from April 1 be over. The tourism sector fears a major decline. We'll see. The visa will cost about €85, which is only a small amount for a trip to Namibia.

A Voluntary Social Year abroad is the abbreviation for Voluntary social year abroadIt is a state-funded year abroad, regulated in Section 6 of the Youth Voluntary Service.
Since 2021, the Namibia Support Association has been cooperating with the "Friends of Africa" in Schwäbisch Hall.
