It's hot and quiet in Namibia over Christmas. Those who have the opportunity spend this time on the cool Atlantic or travel to relatives' farms, where families gather for Christmas. Time to unwind, without internet, often without running water, but with family – time to talk, time to spend together. Those who have to stay behind in Okombahe will continue to receive an extra meal at Albertina's soup kitchen.

In mid-January, work life begins again – also in Okombahe. Students and teachers return to school and the new school year begins again. 44 soup kitchen children are now old enough (from grade 8 onwards) to attend secondary schools in the area, where they usually have to pay for accommodation in the student dormitory. At public schools, actual tuition is free up to grade 10, but the student dormitories and school uniforms must be financed. Our association has decided to finance the soup kitchen children until they complete their schooling. One year in the student dormitory, including school uniforms and a school bag, costs approximately €100 per young person. These 44 former soup kitchen children can be happy: their next school year has been pre-financed by the Namibia Support Association.

Thank you for your donations and for your purchases and your food and drinks at our Namibia stalls last year, and again now at the Öhringen Christmas market.
